Letter: Many hands helped with Stuff a Stocking event

To the editor:

Dec. 2 was a festive day in Nashville with the “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” movie showing at the Brown County Playhouse, Santa at the History Center, the Holiday Light Parade, and children with adults in tow walking around town participating in the Brown County Community Foundation’s Stuff a Stocking event.

Three hundred children started the morning at 11 a.m. by picking up their ticket, red-and-white-striped stocking and tote bag from the Brown County Community Foundation (BCCF).

A huge thank-you to the 27 businesses that allowed the children to venture into their location and pick up goodies. The BCCF would like to thank the following businesses for the generous contribution to this event: 4th Sister Vintage; Bear Hardware; Brown County Art Guild; Brown County History Center; Brown County Public Library; Brown County Rock & Fossil Shop/Copperhead Creek Gem Mine; Brown County YMCA; Carmel Corn Cottage; Carol’s Gifts; Cathy’s Corner; Fallen Leaf Books; Hobnob Corner; Jack & Jill Nut Shop; JB Goods; Kiss the Cook; Lawrence Family Glassblowers; Madeline’s French Country Shop; McDonald’s; Nashville Christian Church; Rich Hill’s Magic & Fun Emporium; Sweet Cozy Living; Sweetea’s Tea Shop; The Clay Purl; The Educated Otter; The Toy Chest; The Wild Olive; and Touch of Silver, Gold & Old.

Events this large could never take place without the wonderful help of volunteers. They include Donna Ormiston, Nancy Brown, Julie Winn, John Berry, Mike and Jaydene Laros, Pam Raider, Rita Simon, Lory Winford, Jennifer Bube, Dan Waldheir, Judy East, Yvonne Oliger, Diane Spofford, Caren Senesac, Jane Huffman, Marilyn Fagg, Beverly Teach, Del Newkirk, Letty Newkirk, Jane Gore, Jan Mills, Linda Todd, Shari Frank, Mary Cartwright, Betsy Lease, Janet Kramer, Jim Tichenor, Carol Routh, Linda Hobbs, Lois Gredy, Linda Roberts, Barb Newton, Anita Rausch and Sue Dillon.

Prizes from the following business were donated for the raffle: Lawrence Brothers Glass, Brown County Inn and Hotel Nashville. Volunteers, shop owners and ticketholders were eligible for the prizes. The winners include Suzie Hayes, Debbie Ellis, Linda Todd, Hob Nob and Sweet Cozy Living.

Thank you for making the fourth annual Stuff a Stocking such a success. Mark your calendars for next year, Dec. 1, 2018!
