Dec. 8

Owen Valley 48, Brown County 37

Coach’s comments: The Eagles took on the Patriots of Owen Valley and were defeated by the score of 48 to 37. The Eagles fought to erase a halftime deficit of 8 points. At one point, the Eagles were down just 3 and had an opportunity to cut it even closer. After an inopportune turnover that the Patriots capitalized upon, the Eagles were down 6. The Eagles struggled to stop the Patriots’ 3-pointers and played catch-up the rest of the game. The Eagles were led in scoring by Ricky Stanley with 13 and Nolan Patterson with 10. AJ Weis hit two 3s to bring his total to 6 points. The Eagles will next be in action on Jan. 4 as they travel to the home of the Edgewood Mustangs for a 6 p.m. tip-off. The Eagles finished the first half of the season 1-7, but have improved continuously as the season progressed.

Coach’s comments: The Eagles turned in a dominant defensive performance and a well balanced offensive attack against Eastern Greene as they jumped out to the early lead and never looked back in a 50-17 win. Brown County utilized its press early and often to build the early lead as they went into the locker room at the half up 31-6. The Eagles’ half-court man-to-man defense proved too much to handle as well, as the Thunderbirds could only muster 11 points in the second half. Next up for Brown County is a trip to Owen Valley on Friday at 6 p.m.

Coach’s comments: The Eagles came up just short in a hard fought loss to 3A No. 9 Owen Valley, 50-62. A late run at the end of the first quarter put OV up by 7, but the Eagles came storming back behind Aubrey Hollander and Allison Stogsdill as they poured in 14 of the 16 points for BC in the quarter to close to within 1 at the half. OV used a late 3rd quarter run to stretch the lead to 10 going into the 4th and final quarter but once again BC came back and had closed to within 3 (45-48) before Owen Valley was able to make a quick run to close out the game as they knocked down some key free throws at the end. Next up for the Lady Eagles is a visit to Cloverdale next Friday.

Coach’s comments: The Brown County Eagles lost to Indian Creek. The only win for the Eagles came from junior Bryce Denton (132). Denton pinned his opponent early in the second period.
