Jermiah “Jerry” Hendrix III, age 50, passed away from an illness at 2:31 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, with his wife, Tami, at his side.
There will be a memorial gathering for Jerry Hendrix in the Woodland Room of the Brown County Inn from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
Jerry was born in Indianapolis Nov. 7, 1967, but he lived most of his life in Brown County. He was an employee of the Brown County Inn for 10 years, and he was working for Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing of Columbus, Indiana, at the time of his death.
Jerry was a loving husband and a real “dad” to his stepchildren.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Tami; his stepchildren, Kacee, Aaron, Tara and Jessee; his father, Jeremiah Hendrix Jr.; his younger brothers, Raymond (Connie), Kenneth and Calvin; two grandchildren; and many other dear family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jerry also left behind many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra.
Jerry was rightly proud of his strong work ethic and his employer honored that. In addition to earning numerous certificates for perfect attendance, Jerry was awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan through Toyota. By his good example, he was passing his personal values on to his stepchildren and to his grandchildren.
In his personal life, Jerry enjoyed music, dancing, and doing crossword puzzles every morning. He also enjoyed playing games with his family. The day before he died, Jerry was playing his favorite card game called “Tunk” with his stepsons. He beat them twice.
Although Jerry will be greatly missed, he had a personal conviction in the resurrection hope. He trusted in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection to an earthly paradise where “all those in the memorial tombs will hear [Jesus’] voice and come out.” (John 5:28, 29) He was dearly loved and is missed by his family and friends.
