Runaway teen found in Monroe County

A teen who was reported as a runaway Feb. 25 was found in Monroe County the next day.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell reported in a press release Feb. 28 that the under-18 girl was found at a home in Monroe County, after a search warrant was granted for cellphone coordinates.

The sheriff’s department also received a tip regarding the case on Feb. 26 that helped to find her.

She was reported as a runaway before 10 p.m. on Feb. 25 after deputies were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of State Road 45.

The teen was taken into custody by Monroe County sheriff’s deputies and was released to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

After Brown County Juvenile Probation was contacted, the teen was remanded to Bartholomew County Youth Services in Columbus, the press release said.
