Police make arrest for impaired driving

Police stopped a Florida man for improperly displaying a license plate and arrested him for driving while under the influence.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht stopped Travis Brown, 38, of Deltona, Florida, at around 6:30 a.m. March 7 at the Brown County State Park west gate.

Eggebrecht reported smelling alcohol on the driver. He also reported that Brown’s eyes were bloodshot and that he could smell marijuana in the vehicle.

Brown admitted to smoking marijuana recently, the police report said.

A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.018. At the Brown County jail, Brown submitted to a chemical test and the results of that test are pending, the report said.

On March 9, Brown was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite in the body, a Class C misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Class C misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, Class B misdemeanor; and carrying a handgun without a license, Class A misdemeanor.
