Man arrested after gas station clerk calls police

A gas station attendant called police early in the morning of March 17 about a man nearly falling asleep at the checkout and smelling of alcohol.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner found Charles Beauchamp, 50, of State Road 45, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was running at the Nashville gas station, his report said.

Magner reported smelling alcohol on Beauchamp, that his speech was “very slurred,” his eyes were glossy and his balance was poor. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.14, the report said.

On March 19, Beauchamp was charged with three misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended.
