A teen driver was transported to the hospital on March 30 after she attempted to throw a cup out of her window and crashed her vehicle into a utility pole.

Alexis T. Ivins, 18, of Seymour, told police she was driving westbound on Bellsville Pike near Brand Hollow Road when she became distracted while trying to toss the cup out of the window just before 3 p.m., according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht.

Ivins told police at the time she tried to toss the cup out of the window her wheel dropped off the side of the road causing her to strike a utility pole on the driver’s side of the vehicle, the report states.

Eggebrecht reported seeing tire marks consistent with Ivins’ report.

She was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment for minor bleeding to her face, the report states.

Ivins’ infant child, who was also in the vehicle with her, was also transported despite not being injured, Eggebrecht noted.

Ivins’ vehicle was towed from the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.
