Police: Man following closely was driving drunk

A traffic stop for following too closely on State Road 46 landed a local man in jail on drunken driving charges.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell stopped Johnathon Willis, 29, of State Road 46 East, just after 5 p.m. on March 19.

Stargell reported smelling alcohol on him and that Willis’ eyes were red/watery. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.10, over the legal limit of 0.08.

When he was charged March 22 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more, a Class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
