Lifeguard certification offered at local YMCA

A lifeguard certification course is being offered at the Brown County YMCA, 105 S. Willow St.

From 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, participants must take part in an online workshop at the Y and bring a laptop or Wi-Fi-capable tablet. The workshop will get students set up with an online learning portal; then they will have two weeks to complete required testing online.

A water skills class will be taught from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in the YMCA pool. At that time, participants must present proof of online course completion. Participants should bring a lunch.

The course costs $100 for those who plan to work at the Y or $125 for other participants. To register, or for more information, stop in at the Y or call 812-988-9622.

Disc golf league plays every Tuesday

The Brown County Disc Golf Alliance plays regularly in Brown County and new members are welcome.

The group plays Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. at Deer Run Park or at the Brown County Country Club, alternating months. In April, it’s the park.

Players of all skill levels are welcome, including those who have never played before. Loaner discs are available.
