GNAW BONE — A rear-end crash on State Road 46 East on April 28 injured three people, but their injuries were not serious enough to send them to a hospital.

The crash happened after 3 p.m. near the Gnaw Bone Creek Trading Post, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht. He was in the area of Daughtery Road when he heard a loud crash to east of where he was parked.

Traffic was stopped around the crash. Eggebrecht reported that one vehicle was partially in the westbound lane and the other was almost completely on the south shoulder.

The driver of the first vehicle in the westbound lane, Nicholas R. Wagner, 18, of Freetown, told police he glanced over at a nearby flea market. The car ahead of him was stopped and he struck it from behind, the report states. Wagner told police he didn’t have time to hit his brakes.

The driver of the second vehicle, Jeffrey A. Jones, 59,  of Columbus, told police he was stopped in the westbound lane with a turn signal on to turn into Gnaw Bone Creek Trading Past when his Honda CRV was struck.

Wagner was not injured.

Jones was checked out by EMS at the scene for back pain, as was one of his passengers, age 17. Another passenger, Lillian Mullis, 18, of Seymour, was checked for neck pain. All refused transport to the hospital, Eggebrecht reported.

All four people were wearing seat belts.

Wagner’s Honda Accord was towed.
