Police: Speeding driver missed turn, crashed

A woman who was speeding ended up running off the road and into a ditch when she took a turn too fast, police said.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner saw the grey Nissan Sentra speeding at about 7:15 p.m. May 2. As he was attempting to catch up with it, he saw the vehicle in the ditch on State Road 46 East at the intersection with Old State Road 46, his report said.

The driver, Madeline Parrish, 22, of Bloomington, told Magner she was OK but she would like to be checked out by EMS. She told the officer she had just gotten off the phone when she tried to turn onto Old 46, but slid through the intersection and into the ditch.

The airbag had deployed, causing an abrasion on her arm, and she had a seatbelt mark on her abdomen. She refused further treatment.

The vehicle was towed due to disabling front-end damage.

Parrish was cited for speeding.
