Stop on 46 East results in drug charges

A 18-year-old Bloomington man has been charged with two marijuana-related misdemeanors after police stopped him for driving a van without headlights or taillights.

The stop happened in the Brown County IGA parking lot near Hawthorne Drive on April 8, according to a probable cause affidavit by Nashville Police Officer Brenton Barrow. Barrow noticed the van while it was driving on State Road 46 East while he was sitting at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center.

When Barrow approached the driver’s side window, he reported smelling marijuana. The driver, Elijah L. Nolan, told Barrow he had a small container with approximately one gram of marijuana inside and a small pipe in the car, the affidavit states.

Nolan was issued a summons and was picked up by his girlfriend. He was charged May 17.
