Van Buren Elementary School Principal Gavin Steele submitted to a haircut at the hands of preschool students on May 31.
VBE preschool students were picked to shave their principal’s head after they raised the most pennies for the school’s playground fundraiser. The school hopes to raise between $40,000 and $50,000 by next summer to make the playground more accessible to all students. By the end of May, the school had raised $10,500 of that goal.
Steele had also promised that if the students raised $500, he would sleep on Van Buren Elementary’s roof. He did so on May 23.
