An altercation at a Nashville hotel on June 7 ended with the arrest of three people for having syringes and narcotics.

Just after 4:30 a.m., EMS was dispatched to the hotel for a report of a woman with a possible broken ankle. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell went to the hotel and spoke with the woman who said there was an altercation in one of the hotel rooms. The woman said she had to leave the room and that Angie Hayes, 39, of Indianapolis, was still there and was wanted on several warrants.

The woman told police that Hayes would give a fake name and that two men were with her. They were later identified as William Hagenow, 46, of Columbus, and Shannon Fike, 54, of Fort Worth, Texas.

The woman with the broken ankle was then taken by ambulance to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. How she was injured was not explained in the police report.

Stargell learned that Hayes had three active warrants out of Marion County. He went to the room and knocked on the door. When asked if Hayes was staying there, Hagenow told police that there was a “Christy” in the room.

Hagenow let Stargell in. Hayes was in bed. She gave Stargell a name, date of birth and Social Security number that were not hers. When Stargell told Hayes he knew who she was, she said that “Angie” was her younger sister and that they look identical, the police report said.

Stargell ran the name and information Hayes gave through his search system, but was unable to get any returns. He was able to identify Hayes by her Marion County mugshot, his report said. He returned to the hotel room and placed Hayes under arrest.

Hagenow told the officer that he had met Hayes a couple of days ago and wanted to “hook up.” He said Hayes had called the woman in the lobby to “entertain” Fike. He said they found the woman in the bathroom “shooting up” between her toes and they kicked her out of the room, the report said.

Stargell noticed a woman’s wallet partially sticking out between the headboard and wall. Inside, he found one used syringe, two new syringes, two spoons, a light, three Warfarin tablets, a piece of aluminum with heroin inside and a cellphone, his report said.

No one in the room claimed to own the wallet, and they were told they would all would be charged with it. Hagenow said the wallet belonged to the woman in the lobby, but no one in the room knew the woman’s full name.

Fike, Hagenow and Hayes were all placed under arrest.

Stargell requested a search warrant for the hotel room and it was granted later that morning. He reported finding a small baggie containing a powdery substance inside a pink cigarette pouch on the nightstand.

While searching a backpack, he found several papers with Hayes’ name and address on them. He also found a full, unused prescription notepad belonging to the Center for Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in Greenwood, his report said.

On June 8, Fike and Hagenow were charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony; unlawful possession or use of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Hayes faces the same charges, along with an additional Class A misdemeanor for false identity statement.
