Search warrant results in felony drug charges

BEAN BLOSSOM — Felony charges have been filed against two Brown County residents for maintaining a common nuisance after police searched a home in the Bean Blossom Trailer Court.

When officers arrived April 18, they were met by resident Lisa J. Cole, 47, and the homeowner.

Police confiscated Cole’s cellphone. K9 officer Reese entered the home alongside Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht while Det. Paul Henderson took photographs. Deputy Chad Williams searched a shed.

Reese alerted to the presence of narcotics in the bedroom belonging to Randy L. Cole, 54, and Lisa Cole. The alert was on a set of shelves near Randy Cole’s side of the bed, the police report says.

On the shelf were multiple glass pipes which smelled of burnt marijuana, the report said.

Inside boxes on the shelf, police also reported finding a container with two glass one-hitter pipes with white residue and several pieces of foil, the report said. Henderson wrote that those items are commonly used to smoke methamphetamine.

In the box police also found marijuana grinders, butane torches and one metal pipe that smelled of burnt marijuana, the report said.

Police also found three cut straws and cotton swabs, and two other one-hitter pipes, the report said.

Henderson reported finding a wooden box with multiple pills loose inside. Five yellow pills were later identified as anti-psychotic medication. A white pill was a muscle relaxer. Two green pills were digestive pills, the report said.

Another cellphone found on the same side of the bed was taken to be searched.

On the other side of the bed, police found a pink glass pipe and a half-burned rolled cigarette that smelled of marijuana, the report said.

A bottle containing 223 muscle relaxant pills was found in a nightstand. The prescription label was for a person who didn’t live in the home, the report said.

Williams reported finding pieces of rubber tubing and a light bulb made into a smoking device with a “substantial” amount of white residue inside. He also found a glass one-hitter with white residue inside, two more cut plastic straws, and a small tin with 45 rounds of various ammunition, the police said.

Lisa Cole told Henderson she was holding the large bottle of prescription pills for someone else. She said the wooden box belonged to Randy Cole and that she was not aware of any prescriptions he was supposed to take. Randy Cole was at work while police executed the warrant.

Henderson reached out to the man listed on the prescription bottle and he said it was an old prescription. He said if the pills were found at the trailer court, most likely that his wife had taken them there, the report said. He said he had been prescribed the pills when he broke his back, but they no longer worked for him and he considered them “useless.” He denied knowing or having any association with the Coles.

On May 30, Lisa Cole was charged with maintaining a common nuisance — legend drugs, a Level 6 felony; unlawful possession or use of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Randy Cole was charged with unlawful possession of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony; maintaining a common nuisance — legend drugs, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
