November ballot deadlines approaching

Candidates have begun filing for offices to appear on the November ballot in Brown County.

As of June 22, two candidates had declared their candidacy for the Nashville Town Council:

  • Dist. 1: Nancy Crocker
  • At large: Arthur Omberg

Town council candidates have until Monday, July 2 to file. Those offices are nonpartisan. Candidates must live in Nashville; those representing a specific district must live in that district. See a district map here: Nashville districts

The Democrat, Republican and Libertarian parties have until noon Saturday, June 30 to choose candidates to fill vacant slots on the ballot from the May primary election.

Independent and minor-party candidates have until noon Monday, July 2 to turn in their petitions of nomination to the county clerk’s office.

Candidates who intend to run as write-ins have until noon Tuesday, July 3 to file declarations of intent with the county clerk’s office.

Candidates for school board (Dist. 1, Dist. 2, Dist. 3) can file for office between July 25 and Aug. 24. Those offices are nonpartisan. Dist. 1 candidates must live in Hamblen Township; Dist. 2 candidates must live in Jackson Township or voting precinct Washington 4; and Dist. 3 candidates must live in Van Buren Township or voting precincts Washington 1, 2 or 3.

Anyone who needs to register to vote or change their voter registration to a new precinct before the Nov. 6 election can do so through Oct. 9.
