Driver swerves to miss deer, crashes

A Columbus woman was injured when she swerved to miss a deer and crashed her car on Green Valley Road.

The crash happened just after 11:30 a.m. near Ike Shipley Road July 14, according to a report from Brown County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Moore. The Democrat received the report this week.

When officers arrived, the driver, Roberta G. Wetherald, 42, was still in the vehicle which had gone over an embankment, the report said. She said she was eastbound when she swerved to miss the deer and her vehicle went off the road, striking some trees.

Wetherald was taken by ambulance to a hospital with a neck injury. She was wearing a seat belt. Her vehicle was towed.
