Motorcycle driver swerves to miss car, crashes

CAMP ROBERTS — A Columbus man was taken to a hospital after he swerved to miss a car on State Road 135 South and crashed his motorcycle.

Patrick L. Hatton, 50, was riding his motorcycle north in a curve near Whalen Drive when he met a car in the road, at about 2:40 p.m. July 15.

He told police he attempted to avoid the car and lost control in the curve. The motorcycle went down and slid off the road into a ditch, according to an accident report by Lt. Mike Moore.

Hatton was ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance for chest pain, the report said.

His motorcycle was towed.
