Local man flown out after crash

HAMBLEN TWP. — A Brown County man was flown from the scene of a crash on Bean Blossom Road Aug. 1.

The driver, Douglas Martin Jr., 27, of Siebert Trail, was unable to give a statement about the cause of the crash, according to a report by Sgt. Bill Southerland with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

He was taken to a hospital by helicopter with a leg injury.

Based on observations at the scene, Southerland reported that Martin’s Nissan Frontier truck was southbound on Bean Blossom Road near Gatesville Road at about 1 p.m. when it crossed the road. It then went off the pavement on the east side of the road and hit a tree before going over a steep embankment, the report states.

Martin was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report. His vehicle was towed.
