Brown County Water to purchase excavator, replace shed, both as categorical exclusion

Date:  August 22, 2018

State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program Categorical Exclusion (CE):  Brown County Water Utility, Inc., Brown County, Jackson Township, PER Addendum No. 1:  Maintenance and Storage Building and Excavator with Trailer; SRF Project DW 13 13 07 02.

To all interested parties:  this is notification that the Brown County Water Utility, Inc. project to build a maintenance and storage building and purchase an excavator with trailer is categorically excluded from substantive environmental review.  The SRF is submitting the CE for public notice.

The project is needed to replace an existing water utility storage shed that is in poor condition.  In addition, Brown County Water Utility (BCWU) wants to purchase a mini excavator and trailer to perform field maintenance and construction on the existing water system.

A new 40’ by 80’ pole barn -type maintenance building is needed, as the existing shed has met its useful life.  The building is proposed to be constructed on a property, to be purchased by BCWU, which is located adjacent to the property where the existing shed is located.

Total cost of this project is estimated to be approximately $370,172.00.  The Utility will finance the project with an existing loan from the SRF Loan Program.  The Utility will use local funds for costs exceeding the amount of funds left in their existing SRF loan.
