To the editor:
When Dr. Merle Pickel retired this spring from his optometry practice of many years, we all knew that he would be a “tough act to follow.”
Didn’t we know that he would carefully choose someone who would deeply care for his patients and would be a highly competent physician?
That new doctor is Dr. Ben Gootee (known affectionately as “Dr. Ben”) — the embodiment of kindness, caring and complete competence.
I speak from experience as I’ve had a trying but triumphant summer of eye care, from here, to Bloomington, to Carmel.
Thanks, Dr. Pickel and Dr. Ben. We’re blessed to have you!
