Register kids for new session of swim lessons

The Brown County YMCA, 105 Willow St., will offer children’s swim lessons on Saturdays for six weeks between Sept. 24 and Nov. 11. Times are as follows:

10 a.m. — Tadpoles, ages 12 months to 3 years, include a parent or guardian swimming with the child. The instructor will teach water safety and an organized cycle of fundamentals, with splash and play time.

11 a.m. — Minnows, for potty trained 3- to 5-year-olds, will introduce children to the water and improve safety and pool comfort. Children will learn water entry, bubble blowing, flutter kick, back float and more.

Noon — Guppies, for 5 and older, is for children who are comfortable in the water and want to improve basic skills. Class will emphasize floating, kicking and beginning to swim independently.

Each class lasts 45 minutes, with 15 minutes between classes for transition and parent/instructor discussion.

The cost is $40 for YMCA members or $60 for non-members. Private youth and adult lessons are also available. For more information or to register, visit browncountyymca.org or call 812-988-9622.
