Jason Douglas Densmore

NASHVILLE

Jason Densmore, 50, of Nashville, passed away at 2:39 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Jason was born in Terre Haute, the son of James Densmore and Betty Britton. Jason (the gravel giant) was known throughout central and southern Indiana at music venues for playing a mean guitar. He was also known for his hilariously cynical view of the world and he was known by his loving nieces, nephews and students for an unparalleled goofiness. Without question he would tell you that the greatest thing he ever did was teach generations of kids and grown-ups in Columbus how to play guitar. Never once did he fail to turn one of his students on to the guitar-playing virtues of Jimi Hendrix, who died too young in 1970 when Jason was only two. With his recent failing health, Jason’s friends and family also got to know his singular and surreal artwork.

He is survived by his mother, Betty (Timothy) Barr of Nashville; father, James Densmore of Lafayette, Colorado; brothers, Matthew (Ann) Densmore of Buffalo, New York, Ryan (Natasha) Densmore of Arvada, Colorado, Justin (Donghui Zhang) Densmore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Adam (Michelle) Densmore of Iowa City, Iowa, Colin (Noreen) Barr of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brown County Humane Society or Columbus Regional Hospital Cancer Center.
