Mark Colin Henderson passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 at his sister’s home in California. He had been there for a month on a business trip to promote his music.

Mark was born April 2, 1960. He grew up in Santa Barbara, California, a place he adored for its beauty and creative environment. He loved music from an early age and always knew that was what he wanted to do with his life. He graduated from San Marcos High School in 1978 and then went to Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. He spent 8 years writing music for Access Theater in Santa Barbara. He then began Blazing Cactus Music with a friend. Later he did freelance music which included pieces for Dreamworks, Universal Studios, the Smithsonian Institute, several film festivals, commercials and films. Recently he had done award-winning music for the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis.

In 2007 he moved to Nashville to be with his college sweetheart, Liana Franklin. He has resided here since then, writing music and visiting California for business. He also did artwork and had a cartoon-like style which he loved to do for people. He loved old movies, the Beatles and history. He was a student of Christian Science since childhood.

He is survived by his fiance, Liana Franklin and her children, William and Lily; his sister, Jennifer Dahlke (husband, Tad) and children, Tyler, Madison and Kyra.

His ashes will be scattered over the beach in Santa Barbara.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
