REMINDER: Duke Energy planned outage happening Sunday

0

Don’t forget; Duke Energy is planning to shut the power off this Sunday night, and then the start of school will be delayed by two hours Monday morning.

The outage will affect the town of Nashville and residents living near town or on Clay Lick Road. Some South-Central Indiana REMC customers also may experience power outages because their lines share a pole with these Duke lines.

The outage is estimated to last about seven hours, beginning at about 11 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 and ending at 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19.

About 1,300 customers living in or around Nashville will be affected, including local hotels, and businesses in Salt Creek Plaza.

Traffic lights also will be out in town. Duke Energy will provide traffic control.

Power will be out because the wooden poles that hold a high-voltage power line have been damaged by woodpeckers and need to be replaced. While work is under way, Clay Lick Road will be closed from about 10 p.m. Nov. 18 to 5:30 a.m. Nov. 19.

Affected customers should expect robocalls to be done a few days before the outage. Letters were to be sent last month to affected customers, too. A map of the affected area was printed in the Oct. 10 paper. With questions, call the project hotline at 800-820-9362.
