James ‘Jim’ Bennett

James C. “Jim” Bennett passed away Nov. 6, 2018 at his home in Nashville following a brief illness.

He was born April 8, 1948 and grew up in the Bargersville and Franklin areas. After college he moved to Nashville, which he loved and where he lived all his adult life.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bennett; mother, Alma Bennett; and his son, Erik Bennett.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Jeanne Bennett of Nashville; sons, Adam Bennett (daughter-in-law, Kimoy Bennett) of Columbus, Joseph Bennett of Denver, Colorado and John Bennett of Nashville; grandchildren, Samuel, Evie, Asher; and his brothers, Tim Bennett of Trafalgar and Jerry Bennett of Providence.

Jim attended Franklin High School where he was an excellent student and athlete. He went on to college at Rose Hulman University in Terre Haute and graduated as a civil engineer in 1971. He worked in that profession all his life on major projects in the Brown County area and all over the state. A highly respected professional and skilled in many facets of design and construction, he accomplished a great deal in his long and productive career in which he took great pride.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at the Brown County Art Gallery, One Artist Drive.
