Nashville woman named to basketball hall of fame team

The 2019 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team includes a former Columbus East player from Nashville.

Allison (Lee) White of Nashville will be honored at the hall of fame’s 18th annual Women’s Awards Banquet on April 27. She is one of 17 women considered to be the best players from Indiana’s high school Class of 1994.

White was on the 1994 Indiana All-Star team, the AP third all-state team and the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports first all-state team, and was named the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s girls basketball mental attitude award winner, The Republic’s (Columbus) player of the year and North/South all-star. She averaged 20 points and nine rebounds for the 20-5 state finalist team as a senior. At Eastern Illinois University, she totaled 1,057 career pounds and 652 rebounds, starting all 108 games she played. She also was among EIU’s program leaders in scoring (20th), rebounds (12th), free-throws made (fifth) and field goal percentage (10th).

White has worked for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation since 1999 and is currently a sixth-grade teacher at Southside Elementary in Columbus. Married with two children, she lives in Nashville.
