First Merchants Bank has announced its Nashville branch will close this March.

The branch is set to close on March 29 at 6 p.m., according to a letter sent to customers at the end of December. The Nashville branch is located at 189 Commercial Street.

Closing the branch was a result of frequent reviews of all First Merchants Bank locations to consider “where it would make sense to add, consolidate or relocate banking centers,” the letter states.

Customers are now encouraged to do their banking with First Merchants Bank at their Morgantown branch located at 180 West Washington Street.

Morgantown is about 13 miles north of Nashville.

The lobby and drive thru hours in Morgantown are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Customers were told they did not need to take any action due to the closing. If costumers have safe deposit boxes at the Nashville branch they will receive additional communications in a few weeks.
