A Brown County woman is accused of stealing two rings belonging to a relative’s deceased spouse and pawning them.

Julie Marie Randall, 41, of Chickadee Drive, was charged with theft, a Level 6 felony, on Feb. 6.

The charge stems from an investigation that began in November last year when Deputy William Pool responded to a home in the 8400 block of Chickadee Drive. The homeowner said Randall had been living with him and that on Sept. 26, he noticed a ring that belonged to his late wife was missing from a jewelry box, a police report said.

On Oct. 17, the man noticed a second ring was missing. He confronted Randall about taking the rings, and she admitted to pawning them at two shops in Martinsville, the report said.

The man was able to get receipts identifying Randall as the customer who pawned the rings. One receipt contained her signature. The man and his daughter were able to get the rings back from the pawn shops. He then had the rings appraised and they totaled $3,090, the police report said.
