John M. Belden Jr.

John M. Belden Jr., 60, passed away all too soon Friday morning, April 5, 2019, at his home in Brown County.

He was born Nov. 4, 1958, in Franklin, to the late John M. and Mary Catherine (Doyle) Belden Sr. John was a 1977 graduate of Franklin High School, where he excelled in sports, starting varsity as a freshman.

John worked for General Motors, Allison Division for over 25 years as a boring complex operator. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cynthia ‘Cindy’ (Ahaus) Belden, whom he married Feb. 25, 1983, in Indianapolis. He is also survived by his children, Amy (Ryan) Sharp of Franklin and Ashley (fiance, Joe Shuffitt) Belden of Mooresville; siblings, Cathy (John) Johnson of Spencer and Joe (Rhonda) Belden of Morgantown; and seven grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Monteverdi.

John enjoyed fishing, camping and tending to his garden. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana University men’s basketball and Coach Bobby Knight.

A funeral service will be begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Morgantown.
