Harriet ‘Skeeter’ Nash

Harriet L. “Skeeter” (Duhamell) Nash, 92, passed away Thursday morning, April 11, 2019 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Morgantown.

The Rev. Ed Tharpe will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Morgantown.

Skeeter was born Feb. 17, 1927 in Brown County, to the late Howard and Lola (Waltz) Duhamell.  She was a 1945 graduate of Trafalgar High School.

She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Skeeter retired from the Morgantown County Inn restaurant where she worked in the kitchen as a cook and food server. Prior to that, she held the same position working for Andy Rogers at the Nashville House restaurant; she also worked for Cabinets by Nichols in Bargersville as a stainer and sander.

She was a member of both Morgantown and Martinsville senior centers where she enjoyed fellowship and playing euchre. Skeeter also was a member of the euchre club at Camp Atterbury. She enjoyed working word puzzles and cooking, especially fried chicken. Skeeter was a fan of the Indiana University men’s basketball team, Indiana Pacers and country music.

She is survived by her children, Rita Lynett Satter, Pamela (Paul) Dinkens and Jackie Wayne Fowler, all of Morgantown, and Roger Lane (Marie) Fowler of Franklin; stepchildren, Shannon D. (Wanda) Nash of Knightstown, Shawn D. (Kim) Nash of Brownsburg and Wayne (Ghie) Nash of California; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Skeeter was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana D. Burkhart; grandson, Timothy Eugene Smith; siblings, Maybel Crook, Elizabeth Steven, Frances Frazier, Ruth Pieper, Arthur, Ed, Raymond and James Duhamell.
