Police find syringes, paraphernalia on woman

An Indianapolis woman faces charges here after she was arrested on a warrant and police reported finding a syringe and paraphernalia on her.

Nashville Police Officer Evan Painter was dispatched to the Department of Child Services on April 17 for a woman who had a warrant for violating her probation, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Painter reported seeing two women outside talking. One of them told him her name was Amanda Blades. Blades, 32, had an outstanding warrant, so Painter placed her under arrest.

Blades had a black bag on her and she tried to give the bag to the other woman, Painter wrote. Blades gave the officer consent to search it. Inside, Painter found a small zip-up purse. Blades told Painter she did not want him to search that bag, but because she was on probation, her possessions were subject to a search, the report said.

In that purse, Painter found two capped syringes, a spoon with burn marks on the back, several darkened Q-tips, several pens and some pennies.

Painter also found a pill bottle with two types of pills in it. One type Blades had a prescription for and the other was identified as a form of Klonopin, which is a Schedule 4 controlled substance. Blades said she had a prescription for the Klonopin as well, but she did not have it with her.

She was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail. On April 18, she was charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
