Man faces charge of battery of a child

A local man faces a misdemeanor and felony after police say he battered a child and a woman on April 1.

Mark Mingucci Jr., 36, was charged on April 2 with domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age, a Level 5 felony, and battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.

A probable cause affidavit by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholson Briles says that Mingucci wrapped his arm around the child’s neck so that she couldn’t get away from him. Briles reported seeing a scratch on the child’s face along with minimal bruising around her neck area.

Briles also reported that Mingucci grabbed a woman around her neck, hit her in the chest and dragged her on the ground. The officer reported seeing scrapes on her hand and knee along with redness on her upper chest and neck.

One person witnessed the incident, according to the report.
