INDIANAPOLIS — Eight local students took top honors at the 2019 National History Day in Indiana state contest, with five of those students qualifying for the national contest. More than 500 Indiana students participated in the competition April 13 at the University of Indianapolis.

All first- and second-place state finishers in each junior and senior category are now eligible to compete in the National Contest for National History Day June 9-13 at the University of Maryland’s campus in College Park, Maryland. Third-place finishers serve as alternates.
