Hot rod caravan coming through county Wednesday morning

A caravan of about 5,000 vehicles will come through Brown County Wednesday morning, June 12, likely causing traffic delays.

Brown County authorities just found out about the Hot Rod Power Tour yesterday, said Susan Armstrong, director of the Brown County Emergency Management Agency. The tour started June 8 in Concord, North Carolina, and it’s on its way to Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Ohio.

The vehicles will enter Brown County on State Road 135 South from Jackson County, traveling through Story before turning left onto State Road 46 near Gnaw Bone. From there, they will continue through Nashville on State Road 46 to Bloomington.

Local authorities estimate the tour will be coming through Brown County between 10 a.m. and noon.

“We ask that you be patient and plan to travel a different route or at a different time, as the large number of vehicles are expected to cause traffic delays,” the local agencies said in a press release issued late this morning. “Law enforcement from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Nashville Police Department will be out at various intersections to monitor traffic conditions throughout the morning.”
