For Bare Feet plans open house

MARTINSVILLE — For Bare Feet LLC, also known as FBF Originals, will open its doors to the public for its annual open house on Tuesday, July 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. Guided tours of the sock factory building will be offered, and a brand new For Bare Feet Shop retail store will be open inside the building at 1201 S. Ohio St. in Martinsville.

For Bare Feet was founded in 1984 with a retail shop in Nashville; then, a manufacturing factory was established in Helmsburg. An accidental fire in 2011 destroyed the production facility, which led to the company moving to Martinsville. For Bare Feet used to be one of the largest private employers in Brown County.

The company’s staff is now comprised of 110 full-time and part-time factory and front office employees.

Fire, police and other safety personnel will be on site with their vehicles for Touch-A-Truck activities, offering opportunities for the public to enjoy up-close views and for children to sit in the driver’s seat. There will also be stations for children such as face painting and other activities.

FBF Originals is the longest-tenured sock licensee of the National Football League, and is also licensed with hundreds of colleges, the National Hockey League, NASCAR, and Fortune 500 companies and other businesses such as chocolate manufacturer Hershey, Wrangler, and Mossy Oak, among others. The company also offers its products for purchase online at forbarefeetshops.com.
