HAMBLEN TWP. — A Brown County man faces a Level 6 felony after police say he stole a vehicle from Ford Ridge Road earlier this month.

Andrew Jasper, 32, of Ford Ridge Road, was charged with auto theft, a Level 6 felony, on June 5.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld responded to a report of a stolen 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 on June 4. The woman who was borrowing the vehicle when it was stolen told Schonfeld she believed Jasper was the one who had taken it, a probable cause affidavit states.

Another man told Schonfeld that he had information about Jasper possibly trying to trade the Silverado for another vehicle, the affidavit states.

Police received word that Jasper returned with the Silverado to a home on Ford Ridge Road. When officers arrived, Jasper was the only person around the vehicle and had the keys on him. A backpack was found in the bed of the truck, and inside the backpack, police reported finding documents with Jasper’s name on them, the report said.

Schonfeld reported that Jasper had admitted to taking the Silverado without permission.
