It was hot outside, but the babies stayed cool inside of the Brown County 4-H Exhibit Building on July 20 as they competed in the 2019 fair baby contest.

The overall winner of this year’s contest was Elliott Williams, the son of Levi and Misty Williams. Dad Levi accompanied Elliott back and forth to the judge’s table during the 7- to 9-month boy category of the contest.

There were seven categories this year with 19 babies competing. The categories were: 3 to 6 months (boy and girl); 7 to 9 months (boy and girl); 1 year old (girl); 2 year old (boy and girl).

Only one boy competed in the 2-year-old boy category: Brayden Floyd. Two girls competed in the girl category for 2-year-olds with Reese Jacobs winning first and Jessie Brock winning second.

In the 3- to 6-month-old categories, one boy and one girl competed. Olivia McKinney and Barrett Ethington both took home first-place prizes.

No babies competed in the 10 to 12 months category this year. Also there were no boy contestants for the 1-year-old category.

The first-place-winning babies from each category then competed for the overall winner title.

The judges this year were Dog Club leader Dianna Pedersen, 2018 Brown County Fair Queen Second Runner-up Jessica Taylor and 2017 Fair Queen Kendra Satter.

The 2018 fair queen, Jennifer Bube handed out ribbons and a trophy to the tiny winners.

The overall winner won a $20 Visa gift card, a 15-minute photo session and a ribbon and trophy.
