Police blotter for week of July 24

Police: Woman didn’t report to jail

A Brown County woman faces a Level 6 felony for failing to return to lawful detention after she did not show up to serve time in the Brown County jail, police say.

On April 23, Jenny Lozado, 29, was sentenced to serve 90 days in the Brown County jail in a separate case. She was supposed to begin serving her sentence the next day at day 4 p.m.

On May 24, the Brown County prosecutor’s office was advised by jail staff that Lozado did not show up on April 24 and had not reported as of June 28.

She was charged June 28.

Man arrested for drunken driving

A traffic stop on July 7 resulted in the arrest of an Indianapolis man for driving while intoxicated.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Minor stopped a vehicle driven by Johnny Lee Middleton Jr., 51, at State Road 135 North and Redbud Lane just after 11:30 p.m. on suspicion of drunken driving.

Minor reported smelling alcohol on Middleton, that his speech was slurred, his eyes were glossy and bloodshot, and his manual dexterity and balance were poor.

Minor also reported that Middleton had an abusive attitude, that he left his vehicle in gear during the stop and failed to shut it off.

A portable breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.11, more than the legal limit of 0.08.

Middleton was arrested. He refused to take a chemical test.

On July 9, Middleton was charged with three alcohol-related misdemeanors.

Man picked up on warrant faces additional charge

JACKSON TWP. — A Martinsville man who was arrested in Brown County in May on multiple warrants out of Morgan County now faces an additional misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy William Pool reported that he was patrolling in the area of Bear Lake near Bear Creek Road on May 5 when he saw a blue Chevrolet Impala with a man inside, later identified as Curtis Wilson, 45.

Pool asked for his identification. After running his ID through the Brown County dispatch, it showed he was wanted out of Morgan County, the police report said.

Wilson was placed under arrest. When asked if there was anything in the vehicle, Wilson said he had marijuana in the center console underneath a rock, the report said.

He was issued a summons for possession of marijuana before being taken to the Brown County jail. He was later transferred to Morgan County.

Wilson was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, on July 11.
