GREENWOOD

Floyd W. Ford, age 97, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 12, 2019, at Aperion Care of Spencer. He was a resident of Greenwood and a former resident of Martinsville.

Floyd was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Nashville, to his parents, the late Arnold S. and Zetta M. (Hutchison) Ford. He attended Trafalgar High School and went on to marry Eva L. (Schrougham) on Aug. 2, 1941, in Nashville. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2016, after 75 devoted years of marriage.

Floyd was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Baker; and siblings, Dorothy Wise, Garnet Everling, Arnold Jr., Oral Ivan, Arlen, Russell, Maurice, Eugene and Denzil Ford.

He is survived by his children, Donna L. (Elmer) Schott of Brown County and F. Keith (Judy) Ford of Paragon; grandchildren, Thomas K. (Amanda) Baker of Whiteland, and Anna M. (Jim) Voyles and Lisa (Mike Snider) Kinnaird, both of Martinsville; great-grandchildren, Paisley Baker of Indianapolis, Allison Baker and Aaron Baker, both of Whiteland, Zachary Voyles of Seymour, and Maggie Voyles, Brandon Kinnaird and Tyler Kinnaird, all of Martinsville.

Floyd retired in 1984 as an inspector for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after 23 years of service and was a member of the UAW Local 111 in Indianapolis. Prior to that, he worked for E.C. Atkins & Company in heat treating. Floyd was also a retired Church of God Minister, most recently pastoring at the South Meridian Church of God. He also previously served as minister at the Brown County Church of God, Linton Church of God and the Martinsville Church of God through the years.

Floyd was an avid reader of the Bible, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed wintering with his wife, Eva, in Leesburg and Frost Proof, Florida.

The Rev. Jim Albertson conducted a funeral service Aug. 15 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Visitation was Aug. 14 at the funeral home. Entombment was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
