Peggy Brown

PADUCAH, Kentucky — Peggy Brown of Nashville won first and second place in two categories of Wall Quilts at the American Quilters Society’s QuiltWeek.

This show features close to 700 quilts from around the world. Hundreds of quilters compete for $121,250 in cash awards. Quilts in the international contest and exhibition come from around the world, with entries from 38 states and 16 countries.

Grace Richardson

FRANKLIN — Grace Richardson, a 2019 graduate of Brown County High School, will play the roles of Jill, Debby and Lisa in the Franklin College Theatre Department’s production of “The Heidi Chronicles.”

Shows begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 and will show through Saturday, Oct. 5 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6. All performances will be in Théâtre Margot in the Johnson Center for Fine Arts, at the corner of Branigin Boulevard and Grizzly Drive. General admission is $12.

Sara Fishel, Emma Summers

Brown County students Sara Fishel and Emma Summers have been named Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized. Although they will not continue in the 2020 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the 2018 preliminary SAT/NMSQT/PSAT.
