Police: Driver hit bicyclist after being blinded by sun

A 37-year-old man was injured while riding his bicycle on Oct. 7 after he was hit by a driver who told police she was blinded by the sun.

Nichole Jozsa, 24, of Nashville, told police she did not see the bicyclist because she was blinded by the sun coming through the trees as she was coming up a driveway to pull out onto State Road 135 North, an accident report by Nashville Police Officer Keith Lawson states.

Lawson reported that Jozsa hit David Bower, also of Nashville, at the entrance to a Y intersection of two driveways in the 2000 block of 135 North, according to the report.

Bower was ejected from his bike and had complaint of chest pain after the crash.

Lawson noted his injury was non-incapacitating. He was wearing a helmet.

Jozsa was wearing a seat belt. Her vehicle was not towed.
