Motorcycle driver ejected, taken to hospital

GATESVILLE — Two motorcycles hit each other while trying to stop for another vehicle over the weekend, and one driver was taken to a hospital.

On Oct. 19 at about 1:35 p.m., Shawn Sullivan, 52, of Franklin, was driving west on Gatesville Road approaching Salt Creek Road with Kim Kinsley, 64, of Center Lake Road behind him. Sullivan told police that there was a vehicle in front of them turning south onto Salt Creek Road, and at the last minute, the vehicle corrected and continued traveling west.

Sullivan said that he got over to the right edge of the road to go around the vehicle that had been slowing to turn, but when it decided not to turn, Sullivan hit his brakes and Kinsley slammed into the back of him. This caused Sullivan to accelerate forward and Kinsley to be ejected from his bike, where he landed face-down in the road, the police report said.

Kinsley was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing helmets, the police report said.
