Donations, candy stations needed for trail

On Halloween night, hundreds of children and families will walk the Salt Creek Trail in Nashville to collect candy. Last year, 35,000 to 45,000 pieces were given out, according to Brown County Parks and Recreation staff.

Brown County parks and rec at Deer Run Park and the Brown County YMCA on Willow Street are taking donations of Halloween candy now through Oct. 31. Drop them off at either place.

The groups also are offering local people the chance to set up trick-or-treat stations along the Salt Creek Trail on Halloween. The trail, which starts at the YMCA, provides a safe, centrally located place for all Brown County children and visitors to celebrate the holiday.

If interested in creating a trick-or-treat station, call parks and rec at 812-988-5522 or the Y at 812-988-9622.
