Man involved in state park crash arrested

A 24-year-old Columbus man was arrested in Brown County State Park on Sept. 28 after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash at Strahl Lake.

Indiana Conservation Officer Brent Bohbrink wrote in a probable cause affidavit that a witness saw Karthik Sethuraman driving the vehicle that had been involved in the crash. A witness had also caught Sethuraman from falling as he exited the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Bohbrink reported seeing empty beer cans in the backseat, and EMS personnel said that he smelled strongly of alcohol. A portable breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.17, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. Sethuraman admitted to drinking that afternoon, Bohbrink’s report said.

He was charged Oct. 1 with three misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
