Tyrone Streeval, 75, of Brown County, Indiana, passed from this life at 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Ty was born June 18, 1944, in Columbia, Kentucky, to the late Everett Ray and Lula Mae Bryant Streeval. On January 15, 1977, Ty married Karen Malan; she survives.

Ty was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam era. While in the service, he was an airplane mechanic in Puerto Rico and a Hurricane Hunter. He rose to the rank of Airman Second Class and was honorably discharged May 25, 1966.

Ty worked in the materials department at Cummins Engine Company retiring after 30 plus years of service.

He was a member of Becks Grove Christian Church.

Ty loved his farm and taking care of his land. He built his barn and enjoyed caring for his animals. He also loved to fish and welcomed all friends and family to join him.

During the Bob Knight era, Ty was one of Indiana University Basketball’s biggest fans. He never missed a game.

Ty also had a passion for woodworking, he would build birdhouses and other things that would benefit nature.

Ty is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen; children, Heidi (Perry) Summitt of Bloomington, Vance (Adrienne) Malan of Brown County and Kelly Backer of Mason, Ohio; grandchildren, John (Abby) Miller, Tyler Miller, Meredith Miller, George Miller, Chase (Susan) Malan, Bryce Malan, Katherine Backer and Jack Backer; great-grandchildren, Marshall Miller, Wesley Miller and Ruthie Miller and Cooper Malan who is on the way; a brother, Mike Streeval of Columbus; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Ty was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Jerry Streeval; sisters, Betty Dunn and Nancy Coatsworth; and a nephew, Tony Coatsworth.

A memorial service celebrating Ty’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Becks Grove Christian Church, 8009 South Becks Grove Road, Freetown, IN 47235 with Nelson Lee, Jim Weld and Jon Lawson officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.

Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Unit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
