Thelma May Arvin, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019. She was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Brown County, Indiana, to Ray Allen Porter and Mary Cordelia Derringer Porter.
Thelma is survived by daughters Sheila Arvin and Sheryl Sharpe (husband, Daniel); son Bud Arvin (wife, Cindy); grandsons Benjamin Sharpe (wife, Ashlen) and Ethan Sharpe; granddaughter Lily Arvin; sisters Lois Sanders (husband, Marlow) and Audrey Beasley (husband, Harold); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years Gene Ottis Arvin; brothers Leo Porter, Allen Porter and Jimmy Porter; sisters-in-law Doris Porter and Barbara Porter; as well as nephews Brent Beasley, Marvin Sanders and Kenny Porter.

Abigail is a Brown County native dedicated to the community in which she has been raised. She joined the Brown County Democrat newsroom in 2019 while studying English at IUPUC, where she graduated in May 2020.
