VAN BUREN TWP. — A 30-year-old Seymour woman died on Jan. 8 after police and EMS responded to a report of a suicidal woman coming to Brown County to take her life.

According to the dispatch log, the call came in around 9 p.m. Deputies with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to Sundance Lake in Hoosier National Forest. They found a single vehicle in the parking lot with the driver’s side door open.

A woman was lying across the front bench seat in the vehicle, a press release from the sheriff’s department stated. She was conscious enough to tell police what had happened.

Police applied pressure immediately to her wounds and called a medical helicopter. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Democrat does not normally report the names of suicide victims, nor details about their deaths.

Multiple county deputies, Southern Brown Volunteer Fire Department, a wrecker and EMS also assisted at the scene. Police were on scene until after 2 a.m. Jan. 9.
