Lions club

The Brown County Lions Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, with a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be March 17.

The Lions Club board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. Anyone interested in Lions is invited to attend. The next board meeting will be March 3.

Book club

A Novel Bunch book club meets every third Wednesday at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane, at 2 p.m. in meeting room B. The next meeting is March 18. For more information, call the library at 812-988-2850.

Pioneer Women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Members of the community — especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to the community — are invited to attend.

Rotary Club of Brown County’s January Student of the Month

Rotarian and Superintendent of Schools Laura Hammack, and Matt Stark, principal of Brown County High School, introduced Sara Fishel as the Rotary Club of Brown County’s January Student of the Month at the club’s Feb. 6 meeting. Sara was accompanied by her parents, Christie and David. Sara is president of the student council and leads several clubs and organizations. She attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program at Bradford Woods last fall and participates in Interact, Rotary International’s service club for young people. According to Hammack, "Sara is an exceptional student of whom all of Brown County should be proud.” Stark added, “We are a better school because of Sara.” She will attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. Rotary Club of Brown County’s February Student of the Month

Rotarian and Superintendent of Schools Laura Hammack introduced Adrianna Kritzer as the Rotary Club of Brown County’s February Student of the Month at the club’s Feb. 13 meeting. Adrianna was accompanied by her mother, Michelle. Adrianna has assisted the Brown County High School administration in the main office for her entire tenure and was nominated by Pam Bond. She plays soccer, basketball and softball and is involved in several other activities. She is co-treasurer of the senior class and Rotary International’s Interact, its service club for young people. She was instrumental in raising money for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and for Interact’s project to provide solar-charged, battery-powered lamps to a school for orphans in Uganda so students can study at night. Adrianna has been accepted at Indiana University, Indiana State University, Ball State and the University of Indianapolis. She plans to study marketing and public relations. Submitted photo

Woodworkers club

The Brown County Woodworkers Club will meet Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Brown County Library, 205 Locust Lane.

The program will be on finishing by Tim Puro.

Wine club

Wine Club Wednesday will meet Wednesday, March 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Country Heritage Winery, 225 S. Van Buren St.

The theme this month is March Madness. A prize will be awarded to the best themed outfit. Dress as your favorite college player, past or present. A prize also will be given for the best game day appetizer.

Cemetery preservation

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St., Tuesday, March 10 at 4:15 p.m. The society is a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group. All are welcome.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc., a preservation group, meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the Brown County Community Foundation building, 209 N. Van Buren St., on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Herb society

The Brown County Herb Society meets the third Monday of each month. The club will meet in the lower level at the Brown County Public Library on Monday, March 16 at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join. Call the library at 812-988-2850 for more information.
