Driver runs off road, treated at scene for arm injury

A 40-year-old Brown County man was treated at the scene of a crash on March 15 after he ran off the the road while driving on State Road 45.

Chad Guffey told police police he was driving westbound on 45 near the 3200 block when he went through an S-curve west of Helmsburg.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m.

Guffey said he ran off the road at the west end of the S-curve and could not get his vehicle out of the soft shoulder, an accident report by Sgt. Scott Bowling with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department states.

The vehicle Guffey was driving struck a rock culvert, a mailbox and a tree.

He refused transport by EMS and was treated at the scene for complaint of lower arm and elbow pain, the report states.

His vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. Guffey was wearing a seat belt.
